On May 12th at about 6:30 am, a deputy observed a vehicle driving recklessly on Delta Highway. When the Deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled, leading deputies on a short vehicle pursuit. The driver was later identified as 34-year-old Jeffrey Allen McGee. McGee attempted to flee eastbound on Beltline Highway towards Interstate-5. As McGee exited onto I-5, his vehicle lost control and collided with another vehicle. McGee’s vehicle came to a stop on the side of the interstate. McGee fled on foot, running completely across Interstate-5. Motorists on the freeway had to come to a stop to avoid striking him. Deputies located McGee nearby and took him into custody. McGee was arrested and lodged at the Lane County jail for the following charges. -Elude by vehicle; -Elude by foot; -Assault in the third degree; -Hit and run; -Reckless driving; -Reckless endangering; -DUII; -Resisting Arrest.
