VAN PINNED TO STOP DRUNK DRIVER | In the early hours of April 13, officers responded to a report of a vehicle driving erratically near NE Brookwood Parkway and NE Shute Road. A concerned citizen observed the driver stopping suddenly in the roadway, veering across lanes, accelerating at extreme speeds, even driving over a curb and through grass.

Thanks to this alert caller, officers quickly located the van. When they attempted a traffic stop, the driver continued onto a sidewalk. To prevent any further danger, officers pinned the vehicle using their patrol cars by positioning the front bumpers against the suspect vehicle’s front and rear bumper to stop its movement.

Jose Hernandez-Gomez (22) provided a breath sample showing a blood alcohol content of 0.15%—nearly twice the legal limit. He was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants.

We are grateful to the community member who spoke up and helped prevent a potentially tragic outcome. If you see dangerous driving, please don’t hesitate to report it. You could save a life.
