STOLEN SCUBA GEAR RECOVERED | On September 27th, a community member reported over $2000 in scuba gear was stolen from their locked vehicle. There was no suspect information available at that time. On December 12th, that same determined community member found their stolen scuba gear for sale online. Working in tandem with officers, the community member told the seller they wanted to buy the gear and arranged a meeting. Later that night, the seller arrived at the meeting and was detained by police. The stolen gear was recovered in the seller's vehicle. 40 year old Joey Norberg, of Clatskanie, was arrested for Theft in the first degree.

ROOMMATE DISPUTE | On December 11th, at about 3:15 am, officers were dispatched to reports of a disturbance with a weapon near NE 17th Avenue and NE Sunrise Lane. The caller told dispatch his roommate had kicked in his bedroom door and yelled at him while holding a gun. Officers were able to evacuate the caller from the residence and surround the home. Officers were able to make phone contact with the suspect and convinced him to exit the residence peacefully. During a search of the residence officers found a damaged bedroom door and a replica firearm. Justin McBride, 38 years old, was arrested for Menacing.

TENANT ASSAULTS LANDLORD | On December 7, around 5:45 pm, near NW Rachel Street and NW Bailey Avenue, Hillsboro Police officers responded to an incident where Jodi Eno (44 years old), assaulted her landlord. After the assault, Eno barricaded herself inside her bedroom and armed herself with a knife and an ice pick. Officers worked swiftly to secure a signed search warrant and attempted to resolve the standoff by calling Eno out of the residence peacefully. Eno refused to cooperate with officers. With the assistance of the Washington County Tactical Negotiations Team and the Washington County Crisis Negotiation Team, officers made entry into the residence and ultimately employed a Taser to safely take Eno into custody. No serious injuries were reported and the situation was resolved through the professionalism and expertise of all involved. We commend the swift actions of our law enforcement partners in keeping our community safe.

BATTERY BUSINESS BURGLARY | On December 8th, at about 11:45pm, officers were dispatched to an alarm at the Battery X-Change near SE Baseline Road and SE 3rd Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found damage to one of the exterior doors and could hear the suspect was still inside. Officers surrounded the building and loud-hailed the suspect to exit; he was taken into custody without issue. Rene Pena, 47 years old, was arrested for Burglary in the first degree, Possession of Burglary Tools, Theft in the second degree, and Criminal Mischief in the first degree.

DUII HIT AND RUN ARREST | On December 8th at about 11:15 pm, officers responded to SE Oak Street and SE 5th Avenue for the report of a black SUV striking a power pole, cutting power to the area, and fleeing the area. As a result of the crash, the license plate of the suspect vehicle fell off and remained at the scene. Officers located the license plate and drove to the registered owner's address, where they located the driver and his heavily damaged vehicle. Eduardo Aguilera-Lazaro, 41 years old, was arrested for DUII and Hit and Run. He provided a breath sample which showed his blood alcohol content was 0.13%.

HIT AND RUN CRASH RESULTS IN POWER OUTAGE -- SE OAK ST IS CLOSED AT SE 5TH ST. | On December 8 at 11:18 PM, HPD officers responded to the report of a hit and run crash on SE Oak St and SE 5th Ave. It was reported that a black SUV hit a power pole, resulting in a power outage to the nearby area. The impact caused the power pole to lean over the road. The crash remains under investigation. Please use an alternate route.
