Last week, City Manager Nichole Rutherford and Port of Coos Bay Director of External Affairs Matt Friesen spoke with KMTR about the joint effort to explore housing opportunities on a large parcel of Port-owned land on Coos Bay’s Eastside. The first step— a feasibility study funded by a $100,000 Business Oregon grant— will assess infrastructure needs, market demand, and the site’s development potential. The study will also include a traffic assessment to ensure that local routes and infrastructure can support future residential growth. This collaboration is yet another example of how much can be accomplished when community partners work together.
