Last week, City Manager Nichole Rutherford and Port of Coos Bay Director of External Affairs Matt Friesen spoke with KMTR about the joint effort to explore housing opportunities on a large parcel of Port-owned land on Coos Bay’s Eastside. The first step— a feasibility study funded by a $100,000 Business Oregon grant— will assess infrastructure needs, market demand, and the site’s development potential. The study will also include a traffic assessment to ensure that local routes and infrastructure can support future residential growth.
