Description

Students use school-issued laptops during class at Cedar Park Middle School in Beaverton last spring. A number of school districts, including Tigard-Tualatin, are considering ways to reduce screen time during school, including moving towards Chromebook carts instead of giving each student a device, a strategy tried at Cedar Park.

The Tigard-Tualatin School District is mulling a series of recommendations to reduce screen time in elementary and middle schools, a move that would place the suburban district at the forefront of a fast-growing, parent-fueled backlash against device and technology use in the classroom.
