Hoary Potter, a hoary bat from Oregon, won the 2024 Bat Beauty Contest. The species is sometimes called the “George Clooney of the bat world” because of its glossy, salt-and-pepper fur.

Most kids won‘t go trick-or-treating until later tonight, but Halloween festivities started early for Oregon’s furriest winged resident — and brought in a well-deserved victory.
