The FBI said they used blowtorches and other tools to break into vaults and ATMs to steal millions of dollars from May through October of this year. Most of the robberies occurred in California.Surveillance images caught crews of alleged thieves, wearing construction vests and helmets as disguises, and operating blowtorches and other tools to break into bank vaults and ATMs, according to a federal affidavit.FBI agents found hundreds of pounds of power tools left behind in an Airbnb rental in Welches, Oregon, by an alleged robbery crew.Once inside a bank, the robbers destroyed alarm systems, disabled security cameras with coverings or spray paint and activated cell phone signal jammers to disrupt communication service, according to a federal affidavit.

A sophisticated group of thieves that hit banks and ATMs across California spent time in Oregon, renting out an Airbnb where federal agents found power tools, blowtorch equipment and the robbers’ construction vests and helmet disguises, according to a federal affidavit.
