Once again, South Coast Rotary Clubs are working together to promote literacy under the leadership of Rotarian and Southwestern Oregon Community College President Patty Scott. Gift of Literacy impacts the lives of over 600 regional first-graders every year. Plans are underway for the 2025 event in April. Take a look:

MEMORIAL DAY ASSEMBLY Thursday, May 21 at 10:00 a.m. Marshfield High School cordially invites active-duty military, veterans, their guests, and all other community members to attend the 14th Annual Memorial Day Assembly as we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary. Please plan to be seated by 10 a.m. The program begins at 10:10 a.m. For 2026, the assembly will honor the sacrifices of our veterans by highlighting selected MHS staff and alumni who served in conflicts from World War I to Operation Enduring Freedom. MHS’s Coast Guard JROTC will lead the Presentation of the Colors. The assembly will also include selections by the Marshfield Choir and the Band of Pirates. A reception with light refreshments and conversation will follow. There will also be a special photo opportunity for veterans attending with their current MHS students. A display of vintage military vehicles will be located in front of the MHS Auditorium. Please visit the display on the MHS front lawn that recognizes the 35 young men connected with the Coos Bay School District 9 who died in service. SHUTTLE SERVICE: Shuttle service will be available from Blossom Gulch School (333 S. 10th St). At MHS, the shuttle will load/unload behind the Auditorium at the handicap accessible entrance. The shuttle will depart at 9:45 a.m. PARKING: Parking is limited at MHS. Spaces are available in the main lot as well as in the school bus loading area along the south side of the Auditorium. Handicapped parking is available in front of the Main Gym and behind the Auditorium. There is additional parking along the nearby streets.
