Description
Seven hours. Ten teams. Real world pressure.
The Washington County Crisis Negotiation Team earned first place in a regional, scenario based competition in Spokane.
Teams from Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana participated, each facing complex and realistic scenarios designed to test decision making under pressure.
This kind of training prepares negotiators for the moments that matter most. CNU negotiators focus on establishing communication, building rapport, and reducing emotional intensity through dialogue, while simultaneously gathering intelligence, assessing threats, and developing behavioral profiles to guide decision making.
Working alongside tactical teams and mental health professionals, they use empathy, active listening, and structured negotiation strategies to slow down incidents, increase options, and resolve crises safely for all involved.
The result reflects a shared commitment to serving the community with Dignity, Respect, Service, and Just Outcomes.
