Description
π School is Back in Session β Drive Safely! πΈ
Our School Resource Deputies are on their campuses helping keep students safe as the new school year begins. Motorists, please be extra alert:
Watch for children in crosswalks β they may be unpredictable and need extra time to cross safely.
Stop for school buses with flashing red lights β Oregon law (ORS 811.155) requires all lanes to stop when a school bus is loading or unloading children, unless separated by a physical barrier.
Observe school zone speed limits β typically 20 mph when children are present or when lights are flashing. Be mindful, even if you donβt see children immediately; school zones are active during posted hours.
Expect increased traffic near schools this week as students, parents, and staff return. A few extra seconds of caution can prevent a lifetime of tragedy.
β
Tip: Stay alert, reduce distractions, and plan extra travel time through school zones. Letβs all work together to keep our kids safe and have a great 2025-2026 school year.
