Description

Protesters wave at cars entering and leaving Newberg, OR in 2021 as they demonstrate against a school policy that baned Black Lives Matter and Pride flags across Newberg School District facilities. That policy has since been rescinded after legal action. A few years later, a plan to form a Pride Caucus within the Oregon School Boards Association has failed after not getting the required two-thirds majority support from governing bodies at school districts, education service districts and community colleges around the state.

A two-year effort to convince Oregon school boards to back formation of a Pride Caucus failed to get majority support, the executive director of the Oregon School Boards Association said this week.
