Prep 4A VB Playoffs

It was all home teams in the First Round of the OSAA/OnPoint Community Credit Union 4A State Volleyball playoffs Saturday. No. 1 Marist Catholic disposed of La Grande, 3-0. No. 2 Marshfield did the same to visiting Baker, 3-0. The Sky-Em League’s No. 3 team, Cottage Grove, lost at Astoria, 3-1. Other First-Round matches: Philomath beat Madras, 3-0. Cascade toppled St. Helens, 3-0. Phoenix lost at Pendleton, 3-0. Henley downed Estacada, 3-0. And, Stayton lost at The Dalles, 3-0. That sets up the 4A State Tourney quarter-final round at Marshfield, Nov. 7, with No. 8 seed Astoria playing No. 1 seed Marist Catholic at 9 a.m. Followed by No. 5 Philomath vs. No. 4 Cascade, 11 a.m. No. 6 Henley vs. No. 3 Pendleton, 1 p.m. and No. 7 The Dalles against No. 2 Marshfield, 3 p.m. Winners will play in the semi-finals that night, 6 & 8 p.m. Trophy matches are set for Saturday, Nov. 8. Prep VB 3A Playoffs

Two home teams fell in the 3A volleyball playoffs, Saturday, both from the same league, Far West, Douglas and Coquille. Winners were: No. 1 Valley Catholic downing Portland Adventist, 3-0. Catlin Gabel won at Douglas, 3-1. Dayton beat visiting Santiam Christian, 3-1. Warrenton lost at Sisters, 3-0. St. Mary’s lost at Burns, 3-0. Cascade Christian downed Vale, 3-1. Salem Academy beat Coquille, 3-2. And, No. 2 Westside Christian eliminated Pleasant Hill, 3-0. That sets up the 3A quarter-final championships at North Bend HS, Friday, Nov. 7 with No. 9 seed Catlin Gabel playing No. 1 seed, Valley Catholic, 9 a.m. No. 5 Dayton vs. No. 4 Sisters, 11 a.m. No. 6 Cascade Christian vs. No. 3 Burns, 1 p.m. and No. 10 Salem Academy vs. No.2 Westside Christian, 3 p.m. Semi finals will be held that night at 6 & 8 p.m., trophy matches are Saturday, Nov. 8. It was all home teams in the 2A volleyball playoffs, Saturday. Bandon lost at No. 1 Crosshill Christian, 3-0. Weston-McEwen beat Santiam, 3-1. Culver lost at Heppner, 3-1. Faith Bible lost to Delphian, 3-0. No. 3 seed Myrtle Pt. beat Regis, 3-1. Clatskanie over Oakridge, 3-0. Portland Christian beat East Linn Christian, 3-0. And, Kennedy lost at No. 2 seed Trinity Lutheran, 3-0. Matchups for the championship quarter-final round is set at Eastern Oregon University, La Grande, Friday, Nov. 7 with No. 8 Weston-McEwen vs. No. 1 Crosshill Christian. No. 5 Heppner vs. Delphian. No. 6 Clatskanie vs. Myrtle Pt., 1 p.m. and No. 7 Portland Christian taking on No. 2 Trinity Lutheran. Semi-finals that night, trophy matches on Saturday, Nov. 8.

Prep VB 1A Playoffs

Powers lost in the First Round of the OSAA 1A VB playoffs Friday at Triangle Lake, 3-2. Elkton won its opener at home against Damascus Christian, 3-0, but lost in Round 2 at Powder Valley, 3-0. The 1A State Tournament is at La Grande HS, beginning Nov. 7. Crane is No. 1 seed. No. 31 seed Crosspoint Christian beat No. 2 seed North Clackamas Christian, 3-0, but then lost in Round two to No. 15 seed St. Paul, 3-1.
