At the Port Orford Cinnamon Roll Run Monday, Gold Beach’s Coco Plaep won the girl’s 5K race in 23:25.12. Maddie Pahls led Bandon in second (25:51.01), and Oceana Powers-Schmitz led Brookings-Harbor in fourth (26:43,88). Reedsport senior Creao Zeller took first in the Boy’s 5K race in 19:55.70. Bandon’s Jackson Simonds was fourth (20:42.90) and Brookings-Harbor’s Alexander Justman took 13th (22:45.40).

Marshfield heads up this week’s OSAA/Coach’s 4A Volleyball Poll. The Lady Pirates (11-1) are followed by defending state champion Marist Catholic (12-1), the two meet at Coos Bay, Thursday, Oct. 3. North Bend (8-3) is ranked No. 7. The 3A/4A OSAA State Volleyball Championships will be held Nov. 8th & 9th in the Bay Area. Valley Catholic (14-1) leads the 3A with unbeaten Pleasant Hill (16-0) at No. 2. Coquille (8-1) shows up at No. 8.
