Marshfield’s wrestlers competed at the Alsea Bay Wrestling Classic Saturday on the Central Coast at Waldport. At 126: Charlie Morton took second-place to Levi Farrens, Nestucca; at 144, Nick Long lost to Raynen Morrison, Coquille in the third-place match; at 150: Axel Osorio-Castillo lost in the third-place match to Rusty Best, Nestucca; at 157: Kashfield Davidson took third-place over Samuel Walsh, Dayton; at 165: Wylie Robinson took third-place with a win over Danny Gonzalez, Sheridan; at 175: Dax Johnson lost in the third-place match to Gabriel Dooley, Waldport; at 285: Bryson Harvey lost the third-place match to Kyren Carr, Taft; also 285: Skyler Folau, took second-place, falling in the championship bout to David Finch, Lowell. Lowell (176.5) took first-place, followed by Coquille (131.0), Waldport (119.5) and Marshfield (107.0). Nestucca (89.0) was sixth, Taft (54.5) seventh, Reedsport (43.0) eighth, Knappa (26.5) ninth, and Toledo 13th (14.5).

Marshfield’s girls won the Alsea Bay Wrestling Classic, Saturday, Jan. 24, at Waldport. The Lady Pirates scored 87.0 pts. for first-place. Taft (79.0) was second, followed by Dayton (60.0), Coquille (55.0), Toledo (47.5), Reedsport seventh (22.), Waldport ninth (19.0), and Knappa (16.0) 11th. Individually for the Lady Pirates: At 115: Amina Palacios won all three rounds. At 125: Annhelena Vancannon won third-place over Arabella Di Lorenzo, Dayton. At 135: Renee Anderson won all three rounds. At 155: Olivia Shield won two-out-of-three rounds, same for Azura Beckett at 170.
