Marshfield volleyball opened Sky-Em League play with a 3-0 sweep of visiting South Umpqua, Tuesday, at the MHS Pirate Palace Coos Bay. Joining the Lady Pirates on the winning side were Marist Catholic, a 3-0 win at Junction City, and Elmira a 3-0 win at home over Cottage Grove. North Bend had the bye. Marshfield is at Cottage Grove on Thursday, and Elmira visits North Bend. Non-league games involving other 4A Coastal Teams: Seaside won at Rainier, 3-0. Newport fell at Sweet Home, 3-1. In 3A: Far West Lg. - Coquille beat visiting Siuslaw, 3-0. St. Mary’s won at Brookings-Harbor, 3-2. Non-league: Sheridan lost at Neah-Kah-Nie, 3-0.
