Our “battery box” crew packed over 1400 pounds of used batteries to be sent for recycling. To date the Rotary Club has kept over 3000 pounds of batteries out of landfills. As you can see by the photos, batteries of all sizes are taken adding up to a huge impact. Batteries in landfills can erode and decay leading to the leaching of toxic materials. By removing them, they can be properly disposed by facilities that handle them appropriately. Thanks to this crew and NWCU that lent us their parking lot.Photos from Coos Bay - North Bend Rotary's post
