I arrived in Scott Valley on Wednesday, September 10th, where I was invited to stay with member Bubbles (Diane Pomeroy.) President Dee Jones picked us up and gave me a tour of the area and the club’s many projects, including gardens, parks, and display cases for their museum. Remember longtime DACdb Chair, Lori Fleck? She has a memorial granite bench in front of the Avery Theatre, where the club holds its annual melodrama fundraiser.

Next, I was treated to a fabulous dinner with the two ladies at Denny Bar Co, located in a beautiful old brick building in Etna. Everybody knew everybody, and I felt like I did, too. I love this community!

At 8 am on Thursday, the club met for a great breakfast (thanks, Bubbles!) Members were sharing bumper crops of produce. Scott Valley Rotary is a small club, but everyone is involved. President Dee proudly showed off an RI Award for Club Excellence signed by 24-25 RIP Stephanie Urchick and Rotary Foundation Chair Mark Maloney. AG Rick Fuller (on the right) joined us for the meeting. The conversation revolved around how to stimulate more community support of their monthly pancake breakfast – maybe a pancake-eating contest? AG Rick Fuller brought the club the newly redesigned podium banners, as well as a case of wine for them. How to use a District 5110-branded wine gift? That stimulated some conversation!

You may remember that I saw aluminum “Rotary Project” plaques in front of Club Projects in Port Orford. Well, Mike Kalpin (at the center of the picture above) is going to try to help us out with making a bunch for clubs to place on their projects. Cool, eh?
