Description

Tuesday, the 30th, I drove to Cave Junction to visit PDG Jim Polk (& Katie) before the Illinois Valley meeting. When we arrived, Secretary Dawn LeGaux was already set up and ready to greet members as they arrived. No wonder she was one of the EIGHT awards that President Bruce Reece asked me to give.
I love small town clubs! Everybody knows everybody. They demonstrated adaptablity, too, when they weren’t able to use their regular meeting space. A couple of visitors attended this day – that’s always nice to see.
The members have a heart for youth service. I emphasized the way they leverage their impact with my “Why Rotary?” moment.
After the meeting, I got a tour of some of their projects. Through Rotary partnerships in the Duck Derby, and other partners, the club built a 3-story press box (the top half is shown here), provided safety mats and flooring in a wrestling/sports facility and partially funded an all-weather track – all at the high school.
