On Saturday evening, October 19th, Lane County Sheriff's Search & Rescue responded with Upper McKenzie Fire to the area of Horse Creek Trail, south of Highway 242, to assist an injured hiker. The patient was safely transported back to their vehicle, and an accompanying hiker drove them to an area hospital.   
  
Lane County is a beautiful place to recreate but use caution. As we head into fall, daylight ends sooner, and temperatures drop faster. Always tell someone where you plan to go, and always be prepared to be out overnight wherever you go!

AUTUMN ADVENTURES & SPOOKY FUN   
  
It’s the season for scary costumes, crisp weather, and colorful leaves! Join the Library for fun events such as:  
  
--Free Yoga on Monday evenings from 5:30-6:30 p.m.  
--Men’s Group on Tuesdays at 6-8 p.m.  
--Story Times for babies on Tuesdays and toddlers on Wednesdays from 10 -10:30 a.m.  
  
Spooky Soiree Fundraiser  
  
The Coos Bay Public Library is having a fundraiser! If you are 21 or over, you are invited to the Spooky Soiree hosted by the library. Your $10 cover charge pays for free live music, snacks, and a haunted escape room. Alcoholic drinks, Tarot readings, games, and more will be available to purchase. The event is on Saturday, October 26, from 6- 9 p.m. Come have some spooky adult fun while helping the library raise funds for a new building!  
  
Toddler Monster Mash  
  
For the younger set, the Coos Bay Library will also be hosting a spooky toddler dance party on Halloween morning from 10-11 a.m. Bring your little one for their very own monster mash!  
  
Festive Dia de Muertos Celebration  
  
Friday, November 1 is Dia de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead. The Library has partnered up with local organizations such as the Coos Hispanic Alliance and the South Coast Equity Alliance to bring a celebration to Coos Bay. Live Mariachi music, food, crafts, and more will be available to all ages. Bring a picture of a deceased loved one to leave at the offrenda (alter) to pay respect and remember friends and family who have passed from our lives but not our hearts. This event takes place from 5 -7 p.m. and is open to all.
