On Friday evening, Lane County Sheriff's Search & Rescue responded to the Winberry area to search for an elderly lost mushroom picker. Family members had been unable to locate the missing person, who had told them the area she planned to be. A deputy assisted the search with a drone. SAR located the missing person by midnight and provided needed care. After a difficult hike out of the area in the dark, she was reunited with family in the early morning. Lane County is a beautiful place to recreate but use caution. As we head into fall, daylight ends sooner, and temperatures drop faster.
