A woman killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks has been formally identified nearly 25 years later through a groundbreaking forensic technique, marking a major milestone in the nation’s longest-running disaster victim identification effort. City officials announced that the victim, whose family requested anonymity, became the first person from the World Trade Center attacks identified through forensic investigative genetic genealogy, an emerging method that combines advanced DNA analysis with family history research, ABC News reported.
