Description
NEIGHBORS PITCH IN BEFORE THE STORMS
Last week, Public Works crews and firefighters from Coos Bay and North Bend teamed up to fill more than 300 sandbags for use during coastal storms and flooding. Having sandbags filled and ready means we can get them where they’re needed sooner.
The City of North Bend recently received a sandbag filling machine through the state’s SPIRE program. Using that equipment, crews worked together to build a stockpile for Coos Bay ahead of potential flooding.
Thanks to everyone who pitched in and to North Bend for sharing this resource. A little work ahead of a storm can make a big difference when the rain arrives.
If you need sandbags during a flooding event, call Coos Bay Fire Department at 541-269-1191.
