Description
NEIGHBORHOOD PREPAREDNESS MEETINGS
In recent weeks, I've mentioned upcoming community meetings organized by the City of Coos Bay and the Coos Bay School District. These meetings aim to educate residents about emergency preparedness and response. The goal is to better prepare our community for future emergencies, such as the Tsunami event that happened on December 5, 2024.
To help encourage broad community participation, we're holding a series of neighborhood meetings throughout the city. This allows residents to easily attend a meeting close to home. Each meeting will cover the same essential information about emergency preparedness. These meetings will be hosted at local schools, thanks to the generous support of the Coos Bay School District. City of Coos Bay Public Safety staff will provide valuable information for the entire community, while Coos Bay School District staff will share information specifically designed for families with children in the district. This is a coordinated effort, and we are grateful for the collaboration and the opportunity to learn together.
The first of three planned meetings is scheduled for January 30, 2025, at 6 p.m. at Marshfield High School Heritage Hall. In the coming weeks, there will be community meetings held at both Empire and Eastside schools. We will share the dates and times for these additional meetings as schedules are coordinated.
