MAYOR'S MESSAGE  
  
Amazingly, it is already May which will hopefully bring us warmer weather under more frequently blue skies. Sunshine also brings people out more to enjoy activities in the community, so please use caution when you are out traveling to ensure everyone’s safety. There are many activities over the coming warmer months that you can plan to connect with; continue to watch the Friday Update for more details on ways to participate in these events.   
  
Some City projects underway or starting in the coming months include:   
  
-Front Street parking lot will be completed  
-Empire Blueprint project will reach finalization  
-Wastewater Treatment Plant 1 re-construction continues  
-Several Pump Station improvements will be completed or started  
Newmark Avenue/Wall Street building demolition (future parking lot)  
-150th Birthday Celebration  
-Movie series at the Third Street/Central Avenue parking lot  
-Ongoing pothole patching  
  
Private developer projects within the community continue along with potential for some housing projects to start phasing in:  
  
-Commercial development adjacent to Ace Hardware  
-Request for development proposal for vacant City lot at Fourth Street/Anderson Avenue  
-Redevelopment of the site previous Ayers Building, recently torn down  
-Housing site plan development for housing options on Bay Area Hospital property  
-Housing development/planning progress at the Gloria Dei Lutheran vacant property, old Englewood School property, Lindy Lane large single-family housing development, and several smaller housing developments as in-fill throughout the City  
  
I also wanted to mention that the bi-weekly community conversation session, Invitation from the Mayor, is cancelled for Wednesday, May 8. However, the next date is drafted on the calendar for May 22 at 11 a.m. in the Library.
