MAYOR'S MESSAGE
Advancing Leadership, Strengthening Service
I want to take a moment to recognize a significant accomplishment by Coos Bay Police Chief Chris Chapanar, who recently graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
The FBI National Academy is one of the most respected leadership programs in law enforcement, bringing together professionals from across the nation and around the world. Attendance is highly selective, and fewer than one percent of law enforcement officers have the opportunity to participate.
Over the course of the 10-week program, Chief Chapanar completed advanced training in leadership, communication, public safety strategies, and emerging issues facing law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve.
Chief Chapanar's graduation reflects his commitment to continuous learning and professional growth, as well as his dedication to providing the highest level of service to the residents of Coos Bay. Investing in leadership development helps ensure our Police Department remains prepared to meet the challenges of today while planning for the future.
Please join me in congratulating Chief Chapanar on this outstanding achievement. We are fortunate to have leaders who are committed to excellence and to serving our community with integrity and professionalism.
-Joe Benetti, Mayor of Coos Bay
