Klamath Basin Sunrise Club: Energy, Loss, and Bluegrass
District Governor Chris Waugh visited the Klamath Basin Sunrise Club at 7 am on Tuesday, April 28th. The club meets at the Fairfield Inn, with a full breakfast included in the monthly room rental fee. Morning clubs have remarkable energy and will make you glad you got up.
President Dan Broockmann warned that the small club had just lost a charter member, Doug Pratt. After a moment of silence, the club directed their happy bucks to fond memories of Doug. He was a loved and respected Rotarian, and everyone had a story to tell. There was laughter and also a few tears.
Shannon Jorgensen received the Club Superstar Award for her constant efforts to bring in new members, her participation in service projects, and her roles as President-Elect and Secretary.
The club holds an annual fundraiser called Brat's, Brews, & Blues, which raised 14,000 dollars last year. The proceeds support Camp Evergreen, a bereavement camp for youth through Klamath Hospice and Palliative Care. This year, the club is rebranding the event as Brats, Brews, & Bluegrass, a fun evolution.
The club sends its greetings to all of District 5110 and invited Governor Waugh to a Thursday night social held in tandem with the Klamath County Club.
