A wheelchair user since the age of 15, Ashley Schahfer knew all too well the feeling of being left out, so the idea of helping others avoid the same seemed a natural fit. As she soon discovered, however, “a career based around activism” could feel a little heavy. It was only when Schahfer began pursuing her passion for architecture that she found architecture combined with advocacy can make for a pretty inspired pairing.
