A seemingly annual debate on whether to raise Oregon's beer, wine and cider tax has resurfaced in Salem. Rep. Tawna Sanchez has proposed an 8% tax to fund youth alcohol recovery programs.

Rep. Tawna Sanchez, a Portland Democrat, has introduced a proposal to raise retail taxes on beer, wine and cider to 8% by 2032. The proceeds would pay for substance abuse prevention for Oregon youth.
