FREE WILDFIRE PROTECTION SUPPLIES DONATED BY ROTARY DISTRICT 5110 DISASTER RESPONSE FUND FOR CENTRAL OREGON COMMUNITIES
Bend, OR — A total of 600 free box fan air purifier kits and 200 N95 masks will be available for those adversely affected by wildfire smoke starting August 15.
These health protection supplies have been donated to Central Oregon communities in Prineville, Madras, Warm Springs, Sisters and Black Butte to protect individuals from harmful wildfire smoke through a $21,120 grant from Rotary International District 5110 Disaster Response Fund.
“Rotary Clubs in each community will assemble and help distribute these free supplies in their respective areas,” explained Cindi O’Neil, a Bend Rotarian and former District Governor who submitted the grant on behalf of Central Oregon. “Local Rotary Clubs are ready to provide early unmet needs and long-term recovery assistance when disasters strike in their communities,” she added.
Sara Beeler, President of the Rotary Club of Crook County, commented that she is grateful for a partnership with Les Schwab of Prineville, who helped deliver box fans to central distribution points for Crook County. “The Red Cross has also been helpful determining outlier populations suffering from wildfire smoke in their homes,” she added.
Free box fan air purifier kits will be available at these locations:
• For Prineville and Crook County on behalf of the Rotary Club of Crook County, free box fan kits distributed to these locations: The County Health Department, ODHS, Mosaic, Senior Center, Neighborhood Impact, Mitchell Wheeler County Trading Company and the Post General Store.
• For Sisters & Black Butte in Deschutes County on behalf of the Rotary Club of Sisters free box fan kits distributed to the Sisters Parks and Recreation Department, 611 East Cascades Avenue for free fans starting August 17.
