Description

Fewer than 12,000 permits for new housing units were issued through October, far below the goal that Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek has set to help Oregon climb out of its housing crisis.

At the start of the year, we wrote about Oregon as a fixer-upper in need of urgent attention, targeted investment and a clear-eyed assessment of all that is broken. With leaders on all levels of government seeming to recognize the imperative to take action, 2024 had to be the year that Oregon got its house in order.
