Description

A recent Eugene Delta Rotary club meeting was a big win for two Lane County nonprofits: Team Oregon Build and Lane County Diaper Bank. Delta handed them checks for $6,074 and $2,234, respectively. On hand to join the celebration were many of the hard-working Deltarians who organized the inaugural Black Tie Bingo fundraiser, held on January 30 of this year.
Jesse Quinn was there on behalf of Team Oregon Build. He talked about the organization’s mission to empower youth through hands-on construction projects. They started building sheds for victims of the Holiday Farm Fire, then took on the challenge of building transitional housing for people experiencing homelessness. With funding from the state of Oregon and other sources, they’ve completed 70 units at Everyone Village in Eugene. Black Tie Bingo funds will support the construction of two small homes for unhoused teens identified by Hosea Youth Services (another Delta partner).
Teresa Baur represented Lane County Diaper Bank, a grassroots nonprofit that she started on a shoestring to meet the needs of struggling new parents to care for their babies. The Delta contribution will help them meet their goal of distributing half a million diapers in 2026. Delta has also provided volunteers to participate in diaper packaging events.
Representing Delta Rotary was Mike Marchese, who co-leads the club’s Community Service committee.
