COOS BAY FIRE & RESCUE HOLDS BADGE PINNING CEREMONY FOR NEW OFFICERS  
  
On July 24, 2025, Coos Bay Fire & Rescue conducted a formal badge pinning ceremony to welcome new members of the department. The ceremony took place at Fire Station 1 and was attended by family members, fellow firefighters, and City staff.  
  
The badge pinning ceremony is a long-standing fire service tradition that marks a significant milestone in a firefighter’s career. It symbolizes trust, responsibility, and the expectations that come with wearing the badge.  
  
This month, we were proud to officially welcome the following individuals:  
  
Justin Ferren joined Coos Bay Fire & Rescue as a Battalion Chief. Justin previously served as the Fire Chief for the City of Coquille and brings strong leadership and operational experience to the role.  
  
Ashton Galloway and Everett Suarez were hired as Firefighter Engineers. In this role, they are responsible for operating and maintaining apparatus, mentoring newer firefighters, and ensuring safe and effective operations on scene. Both come to the department with solid experience and skill.  
  
The badge ceremony followed the successful completion of an intensive multi-week fire academy, where all three honed their knowledge of department procedures, trained in hands-on skills, and built strong working relationships with the team.
