COMBATIVE HIT & RUN SUSPECT SAFELY SUBDUED | When it comes to safely managing people in high-risk situations, the WRAP Restraint System plays a crucial role in minimizing harm and ensuring the safety of the arrested person, police officers, and in this case, firefighters. Used during conditions when an arrested individual is combative or exhibiting self-harm, the WRAP Restraint System provides protection for everyone involved while reducing the chances of injury and de-escalating dangerous encounters.

On March 25th at about 9pm, Hillsboro Police officers responded to a crash at the intersection of NE Evergreen Road and NW Glencoe Road. Witnesses told dispatch that a pickup truck had driven off the road and struck a parked car and shed. A passenger in the truck was injured and transported to the hospital. The driver of the truck had fled on foot. Hillsboro Fire & Rescue firefighters located the suspect as they were driving through the area and assisted police in apprehending him. The driver was combative with police and firefighters, so officers employed The WRAP Restraint System to subdue him. The driver was transported to a hospital for medical evaluation. His BAC was 0.32%; 4 times the legal limit. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of always having a designated driver and the risks that impaired drivers pose to our community.

The driver, identified as Anthony Corrigan Jr. (25), was later lodged at the Washington County Jail. His charges include:
Driving under the influence of intoxicants
Reckless driving
Reckless endangering another person
Assault in the fourth degree
Criminal mischief in the second degree
Failure to perform duties of driver to injured persons
