Description

Bandon, Oregon – January 24, 2025

On January 15, 2025, Coast Community Health Center (Coast) issued a notice regarding the closure of its operations (the Closure Notice). Since issuing that notice, Coast has experienced a groundswell of public and private support to keep this vital resource open and available to the community. Among other things, Coast has received a commitment for sufficient initial support to continue its operations going forward, and is making plans to secure the clinic’s long-term future. As a result, Coast is pleased to announce that, effective immediately, the Closure Notice issued is rescinded.

Coast is working closely with local health care payers, providers, and regulators to bring their services under new management. Currently, Coast is working with Adapt Integrated Health Care (Adapt) on an arrangement intended to transition the operation of Coast’s medical clinics to Adapt.

Adapt provides comprehensive behavioral health services in the four most Southwestern Oregon Counties, including Curry and Coos, and operates two 5 Star Patient-Centered Primary Care Homes (PCPCH) in Douglas County. Adapt has been in operation for over 50 years, and is deeply committed to the community. In 2024, Adapt received the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Gold Quality Leader Badge (the highest possible quality ranking), placing it in the top 10% nationally.

Adapt’s CEO, Dr. Greg Brigham, stated “Adapt is committed to working with Coast Community Health Center to find a solution that will keep its vital services available to the Coos and Curry County communities they serve.”

Coast’s CEO, Kendra Newbold, states “We are grateful to our community for the outpouring of support we have received, and we are committed to do everything we can to avoid a closure and secure these resources for the future.” Coast will provide additional updates on the clinic’s future as they become available. “While it will take time to restore the clinic’s full capacity, our goal is for the clinics to emerge from this difficult time stronger and more committed to the community than ever.”

Important Information for Patients:
Patients of Coast Community Health Center are not required to take any action. They may continue to schedule their care at Coast as needed.
