CITY OF COOS BAY RECEIVES SPIRE GRANT FOR EMERGENCY GENERATOR

The City of Coos Bay has been awarded a SPIRE Grant through the State of Oregon, providing a 150 kVA mobile generator to support emergency operations and infrastructure needs.

This generator has the capacity to power most City facilities during an emergency, helping maintain essential services when normal power is disrupted. It also gives Public Works a reliable mobile power source for projects throughout the city, improving efficiency and flexibility in the field.

The SPIRE (State Preparedness and Incident Response Equipment) Program is part of Oregon’s broader preparedness effort. The program strategically places critical equipment across the state to improve response times and support faster recovery during disasters.

SPIRE equipment is available for use by local and regional agencies through established coordination processes, allowing communities to share resources when they are needed most.

This investment strengthens Coos Bay’s ability to respond to emergencies while also providing day-to-day operational benefits for City services.
