CITY COUCIL PROCLAIMS NOVEMBER AS INDIGENOUS PEOPLES' HERITAGE MONTH  
  
At the regular City Council meeting on November 4, 2025, the Coos Bay City Council unanimously passed a proclamation recognizing November as Indigenous Peoples’ Heritage Month. The proclamation was read by Council President Lucinda DiNovo.  
  
The proclamation honors the lasting influence of Indigenous peoples on the history and culture of Coos Bay, acknowledging their stewardship of the land, preservation of traditions and language, and ongoing contributions to the community. It also recognizes the city’s location on ancestral lands and the importance of Tribal restoration efforts.  
  
Residents are encouraged to join in celebrating the heritage, diversity, and achievements of Indigenous peoples throughout November and to express gratitude to local organizations that support and collaborate with the Indigenous community.
