ODFW release - NEWPORT, Ore. – Chinook salmon fishing closed Monday night, Aug. 17 from Leadbetter Pt., WA to Cape Falcon, OR. Hatchery coho fishing will continue in this area.  Projected harvest of Chinook salmon in this area is near the quota allowance. The decision was made to keep enough quota remaining to continue the hatchery coho season. The action was taken by the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) in consultation with the States of Oregon and Washington, and fishery representatives that met Aug. 17 via conference call.  Check the 2026 Oregon Ocean Recreational Salmon Seasons map page for more information.
