ODFW release - WHITE CITY, Ore. — Join the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife on May 8 for a fun and educational outing in celebration of Amphibian Week—a nationwide event to raise awareness of amphibians and the conservation challenges they face. ODFW invites you to Denman Wildlife Area for a hike to learn about the amphibians and reptiles that call the Rogue Valley home. The event is free but registration is required by May 6. Don’t miss the opportunity to explore Denman Wildlife Area and look for some of Oregon’s unique wildlife such as northwestern pond turtle, long-toed salamander, and sharp-tailed snake. Date: Thursday, May 8, 2025; Location: Denman Wildlife Area, Touville Road, White City, OR (just north of the White City Fire Dept.) Times: Choose from two sessions – 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Registration is required. Contact: [email protected] Participants should come prepared with water, snacks, close-toed shoes, long pants, and sunscreen. Nature is unpredictable and you may encounter hazards such as poison oak and ticks. The walk will take place off-trail over uneven terrain (less than one mile) and may be challenging for some.
