CBPD ARRESTS SUNRIVER FAMILY ON DESCHUTES COUNTY WARRANTS  
  
A Sunriver family wanted on numerous attempted murder and child abuse-related charges out of Deschutes County was arrested in Coos Bay.  
  
On February 21, 2025, at approximately 7:00 A.M., the Coos Bay Police Department (CBPD) received information regarding the location of the Sunriver family, whose members were wanted on attempted murder and child abuse-related charges out of Deschutes County. The family was reported to be staying at the Best Western Hotel, 411 N. Bayshore Dr., in Coos Bay.  
  
The CBPD, with the assistance of the United States Marshals Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Taskforce, the Bandon Police Department, and the Coos County Sheriff’s Office responded to the hotel and a second location in Coos Bay and took all three family members into custody on their Deschutes County warrants without incident.  
  
Warrant Charges:  
  
Sarah Session, 33, of Sunriver:  
• Attempted Murder in the Second Degree  
• Assault in the First Degree  
• Assault in the Second Degree – two counts  
• Assault in the Third Degree – five counts  
• Criminal Mistreatment in the First Degree – eight counts  
• Coercion – two counts  
  
Paula Hardenburg, 60, of Sunriver:  
• Assault in the Second Degree  
• Criminal Mistreatment in the First Degree – two counts  
• Criminal Mistreatment in the Second Degree – two counts  
• Tampering with Evidence  
  
Gary Hardenburg, 65, of Sunriver:  
• Criminal Mistreatment in the First Degree  
• Criminal Mistreatment in the Second Degree  
• Tampering with Evidence  
  
Session and Paula Hardenburg have both been transported to the Coos County Jail to await extradition to Deschutes County. Gary Hardenburg remains in CBPD custody and should be transported to the Coos County Jail later today.  
  
The CBPD appreciates the assistance from United States Marshals Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Taskforce, the Bandon Police Department, and the Coos County Sheriff’s Office.
