Case #26-231  
On Monday, January 5, 2026, HPD officers responded to a report of a suspected DUII driver in a white GMC van. As a responding officer arrived in the area, he saw the van driving the wrong way, directly toward him.  
  
The officer activated his emergency lights and stopped his patrol car. The van continued in the wrong direction and crashed head-on into the stopped patrol vehicle.  
  
Thankfully, neither the officer nor the driver was injured. The driver, Joshua Butler (28) of Hillsboro, was taken into custody without incident.  
  
Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies investigated the crash and arrested Butler for DUII and Reckless Driving.
