Description
The Rotary Club of Port Orford is proud to announce the completion of the upgrades of the Peaceful Schools
Program.
Thanks to Bellah Stephan Club Youth Services chairman and intern Kylie Kline, our local 2CJ school district,
and many others the curriculum has been expanded, updated and improved.
If you happen to be at the District 5110 conference you may have seen some of our interactors sharing
information about the program.
As a Port Orford Rotarian I was a Board member when Wayne Markel transferred to our club from
Colorado. He presented this new program called Peaceful Schools to the board and they approved starting the
program.
The 2CJ School District and our Rotary Club successfully started the program more than 10 years ago. Kylie
was in high school at the time and became one of our early participants. We are proud of all the people who
have been involved over the years to keep this special programming forward and now expanding and
improving it. We are looking forward to working with our youth this year with our expanded program.
For those of you that want to learn more please feel free to watch this video to learn more about how you and
your club might start or support a Peaceful Schools Program in your community.
