Dear Eric: I have been best friends with “Vera” for more than 35 years. She was a great support when I went through a divorce in my late 30s and always was insightful. Throughout our friendship she was always trying to “help” everyone and in the majority of cases it was unsolicited and unwanted.

Roseburg Rotary: Goals, Superstars, and a Blonde Exchange Student District Governor Chris Waugh continued his busy February 19th with a lunchtime visit to the Roseburg Rotary Club at the beautiful Umpqua Business Center. President Fred Sabins and the Governor tackled club goals for 10 minutes before the meeting—then it was time to meet members while lunch magically appeared (thanks to everyone's involvement!). The club's Superstar Award went to Past President Sue Van Volkenburg—Youth Exchange rock star and perpetual membership asker! Other notable members honored: Amy Taylor (Holiday Village), Tabitha Layman (Festival of Lights), Tamy Turner (Club Secretary), and Carol Sabins (behind-the-scenes support). The highlight? Exchange student Tino from Brazil updated the club—he's thriving in sports, enjoying his time, and debuting newly blond hair! 🌎✈️ In the foreground: President-Elect Nis Jessen, who joined Governor Waugh and AG Scott Hendy at PELS in Seattle that very weekend.
