Newberg's Sophia Castaneda walks on the track during the OSAA track and field state championships on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Hayward Field in Eugene.

For the past two years, Newberg’s Sophia Castaneda has been one of a pack of Oregon high school track stars that may have found state gold in multiple years had it not been for Lake Oswego’s Josie Donelson.
