April 30, 2026

From Gillian Flaccus, Oregon Public Broadcasting News Director:

OPB is committed to covering the 2026 primary and general elections in our state accurately and fairly. Our highest calling is to bring you the campaign developments and context that you need -- without bias or editorializing -- to make an informed decision on the candidates and issues.

OPB is a member-supported, fully independent nonprofit news organization, and as such we do not run any political advertising on our digital or broadcast platforms. OPB’s reporting is free of political or funder influence, and we do not endorse political candidates or ballot measures. Your generous support sustains this critical coverage and ensures that it is free from outside influence.

We are committed to regional growth, and we are currently adding staff in places like Southwest Washington and Eastern Oregon, with more to come.

When considering election coverage, we focus our resources on state and local races and measures that will likely have the biggest impact on the largest number of people, or that will have an outsized impact on an underrepresented or marginalized community. We also cover races that say something bigger about topics that are on voters’ minds, and we pursue election reporting that holds those in power accountable for how they use taxpayer resources.

OPB’s elections resource at opb.org/elections will help you find information and helpful links. And you can stay connected to all our political reporting on opb.org, by listening to OPB radio or scrolling through our dynamic social media feeds on BlueSky, Instagram, Threads, Facebook and YouTube. You can also send us tips and feedback at [email protected].

You can also get analysis from our OPB politics team on the “OPB Politics Now” podcast every week, and stay up to date on important stories with our email newsletter “First Look,” delivered straight to your inbox.

Like all OPB editorial coverage, our election coverage is guided by our steadfast commitment to journalistic integrity. Now more than ever, reliable, trusted journalism is critical to our democracy and the building of a more informed electorate.
