8/31/25 - LCSO Case 25-4172 - Eugene man drowns in Willamette River over Labor Day weekend   
  
On August 31st at about 2 p.m., Lane County Sheriff’s Marine Patrol deputies responded with Eugene Springfield Fire (ESF) to a report of a male who fell off an innertube into the Willamette River near Clearwater Landing, Springfield, and did not resurface. ESF arrived first and located the male still underwater. They brought him to the surface and attempted life-saving measures, but he was deceased. The male was wearing a lifejacket, but was caught in branches under the surface of the water.    
  
The deceased was identified as Luke John Poulin, 67, of Eugene.
