Description
8/10/26 - LCSO Welcomes New K9 Partner with Specific Skillset
The Lane County Sheriff’s Office was recently selected to receive a new K9 that will assist in locating electronic devices. Meet Kali! She is a 2-year-old- black English Labrador. Kali is not only trained in the detection of electronic devices, but she also doubles as a therapy dog for victim’s and children.
Kali was provided to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office at no cost, through a federal grant with the National Computer Forensic Institute (NCFI) and the US Secret Service. The program covers the cost of Kali’s ongoing training as well as her handler’s. LCSO was selected out of a long list of applicants. Kali is only the 3rd dog in Oregon, trained in detecting electronic devices.
Kali can aid investigators attempting to find small, often hard to find, storage devices capable of storing digital media. She will also be available to help other regional agencies and members of the ICAC Task Force. The Lane County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the ongoing support from our local and federal partnering agencies.
