7/31/26 - LCSO # 26-3793 - Deputy Injured Making Arrest in Glenwood
On July 31st, a little after 11:00 am, deputies responded to a reported menacing in the 4200 block of Franklin Boulevard. Callers reported a male entered a convenience store and assaulted an employee, before exiting the business.
The suspect would later be identified as 40-year-old Douglas Alvin Haley of Springfield. Haley continued to threaten people in the area. Arriving deputies found Haley already had broken into a separate location and there were occupants inside. Haley broke out a glass window, climbed inside and then barricaded the door.
Deputies could see Haley was visibly agitated. One deputy was injured making entry. Despite being injured, the deputy continued to engage Haley until he was detained.
This LCSO Deputy required a tourniquet application to stop a major bleed as well as other injuries as well. He was transported by ambulance to a local area hospital for treatment. Thankfully the deputy is recovering and in stable condition.
The Lane County Sheriff’s Office would also like to thank the University of Oregon Police Department for their assistance in this case. We are proud of all our deputies who work hard each day to keep our community safe.
