Springfield man arrested in Camp Creek area after shots fired   
  
On July 28th at about 7 p.m., Lane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an armed burglary in the 88700 block of Easy Lane, northeast of Springfield in the Camp Creek area. A resident observed David Anthony Raymond, 34, of Eugene, trespassing on the property with a firearm. The resident confronted him and fired a shot into the ground when he refused to leave. Raymond then also fired a shot from his firearm. Residents took shelter in their residence and called law enforcement.    
  
Arriving deputies deployed a thermal-equipped drone to search the large property. They observed Raymond exit his vehicle armed with a handgun and rifle. He laid in a prone position several hundred yards from deputies and fired several shots in their direction.    
  
Deputies deployed an armored rescue vehicle to begin moving toward Raymond. A sergeant on the Crisis Negotiation Team was able to contact Raymond by phone. A short time later, Raymond drove closer to deputies and surrendered.    
  
After additional investigation, Raymond was arrested and lodged at the Lane County Jail for:   
 - Attempted Assault in the 1st Degree   
 - 2 counts of Menacing   
 - 2 counts of Recklessly Endangering   
 - Burglary in the 1st Degree    
 - Theft in the 1st Degree
