7/20/26 - LCSO #26-3068 - LCSO and Fire Respond to another Fatality in the Willamette River    
  
On July 20th at about 4:10pm, LCSO and Eugene Springfield Fire responded to the report of a subject who reportedly fell from a watercraft near the Clearwater landing.     
  
Fire personnel rescued the person from the river and quickly transported him to a local area hospital. Tragically, the man did not survive. He has been identified as 75-year-old Shabbir Ali Kahn Panni of Eugene.     
  
Panni’s cause of death is still being reviewed by the Lane County Medical Examiner’s Office and there is no further information for release at this time.
