Deputies arrest Florence man who menaced neighbor with firearm

On February 8th at about 4 p.m., Lane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a male trespassing with a firearm in the 5400 block of Bay Berry Drive, Florence. Deputies learned a male, later identified as Joshua Allen Cooper, 42, of Florence, had trespassed on neighbors’ property with a rifle. When confronted by a homeowner, Cooper threatened to shoot him and later fired the rifle several times nearby.

Deputies were able to contact Cooper at his residence and safely take him into custody. Several firearms and air rifles were seized as evidence.

Cooper was lodged at the Lane County Jail for Menacing, two counts of Criminal Trespass with a Firearm, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
